Average Teacher Salary
When calculating average teacher salary, it is important to remember that changes from year-to-year in the level of teacher experience and education affect the average. As an example, a teacher with 10 years of experience and a master’s degree may leave the school and be replaced the following year with a teacher who has four years of experience and a bachelor’s degree. This would be a substantial differential that would lower the school’s average teacher salary. Therefore, when teacher salaries are looked at in aggregate and compared from year-to-year, the increase in average teacher salaries will differ from the 10 percent increase given to each eligible teacher because of these expected variations.
